Illegal Contract Termination

Dear Ministry of Labour, ? ? I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding Kang Chiao International School Linkou Campus (No. 55, Xinglin Rd, Linkou District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 244). ? ? On December 12, 2024, I signed two contracts on the school premises to begin employment on December 30, 2024, as a Grade 8 Science teacher. Following this, I resigned from my previous position, effectively leaving me without a source of income in preparation for this role. ? ? When signing the contracts, I requested copies but was denied by the school, which claimed they needed the originals to process my work permit. On December 26, 2024, just four days before my start date, I received an email from my hiring manager, Chesna Braniger, stating that my employment was terminated. ? ? The school alleged that I had provided false information regarding my prior employment at VIS. This claim is untrue. I was transparent throughout the hiring process, including during my interview, through my LinkedIn profile (reviewed by the school), and via an employment certificate I provided on December 12, 2024. ? ? Attempts to clarify this issue were unsuccessful. Dr. Braniger hung up on me during a phone call on December 27, 2024, and subsequent emails from the school repeated the same vague allegations without offering clarification or a resolution. ? ? This unjust termination has caused significant stress and financial hardship. It has also jeopardized my residency status (ARC) and access to health insurance in Taiwan. The National Immigration Agency (NIA) has informed me that I must leave Taiwan by January 19, 2025, unless I secure a new work permit. ? ? I believe Kang Chiao International School has acted in bad faith by: ? ? 1. Illegally terminating my contract without just cause. ? 2. Refusing to provide a copy of the signed contracts. ? 3.
